[Sunday, 11 May 2008, 06:54 PM]
Leader of Opposition has come up with the patriotic move to take up the pending GSP plus issue with the government and European Union. While welcoming this stated concern of Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe we wish to explicitly state our utmost concern for improving the human rights conditions in this country. This is bringing an end to the incidents of enforced disappearances, extra legal killings, extortions and the culture of impunity. We require the state to account for the people gone missing in the last two years and bring the criminals to books before any finalization of GSP issue said Civil Monitoring Commission Convener Mano Ganesan MP in a statement issued today. Ganesan said further in his statement,
SL POLITICIANS ARE A DISGRACE TO THE COMMUNITY.

This political devil has been a challenge to "DEMOCRACY" among the Sri Lankan Muslims in the recent past. The K.A.Baiz factum was created by the SLMC itself to challenge any opposition "DEMOCRATICALLY" in the run up to local and general elections during the Ashroff period. The late leader Ashroff wanted to give a village lad an opportunity to become a good politician. Baiz turned out to be a corrupt local politician in Chilaw later on. Hon. Rauf Hakeem used this "devil" to defend violence during his democratic struggle to maintain the Leadership of the SLMC after the death of late Hon. Ashroff. The thuggery and violence that Biaz used became an addiction to this "thug" even when SLMC maintained no-violence and respected democratic methods to resolve issues within and outside the party.

[Monday, 05 May 2008, 02:50 PM]
In an interview with a state-run television station, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has called on the government to ban independent media that publish “harmful” stories towards security forces.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s younger brother has described the journalists who report on the casualty figures of war as “traitors” of the nation.  “A regime that openly calls for censorship, clamps down on critical voices of dissent and is defined by vulturine thugs who prey on independent media is antithetical with the strengthening of media freedom in Sri Lanka,” the FMM statement said.
